Six-member
idol group from South Korea, VIXX, had recently dropped by Malaysia for
their very first global showcase, “The Milky Way”, and MYKPOP were
delighted to have been invited to the special event.
The event kicked off at around 1.00PM,
and after a special opening act performance by our local artist, VIXX
finally appeared on stage following the chants of the crowd. With full
attendance by members N, Leo, Ken, Ravi, Hongbin and Hyuk, the boys
performed their hit song “On and On” as the opening attention grabber,
before moving on to their second song “Light Me Up”.
It
was definitely refreshing seeing the boys doing their self introduction
in Malay, showcasing their interest and hard work in understanding a
little bit more of our culture. Seeing that it was their second time
coming to Malaysia, VIXX comfortably controlled the stage and continued
on with solo stages by the members. Leo, who fans are delighted to see
as he had just recovered from a leg injury, started off his solo act
covering “Can’t Be Friends”, a song made popular by Trey Songz a few
years back. Hongbin took the stage next with his own rendition of Kim
Dongryul's “Old Song”, capturing the hearts of many fans alike with his
gentle voice.
Just as the crowd were
drown in the serene mood with two amazing ballad songs covers, Ken and
Ravi pumped up the stage with their own version of Chris Brown’s “Turn
Up The Music”. Before the audience could settled themselves from all the
hype, N brought to us an incredible jazzy (no pun intended) ballet
blindfold dance performance. It was probably the very first blindfold
dance that any Kpop singers had performed for fans in Malaysia, which
explains all the awe that came afterwards.
VIXX left the crowd with a
heartfelt video message, showing the struggle and hardship that they
faced in their journey to become the artists that they are today, and
how they were able to overcome the challenges with the endless love and
support from their fans, Starlight. All six members once again came up
on stage to perform their debut song, “Superhero”, reminiscing the
feeling of when they first started off in the music industry.
The boys then took a break
from all the performances with a Q&A session with the audience.
Fans were given the chance to leave messages to VIXX before the event
started, and the members picked a few questions and answered them on the
spot; a special bonding time between VIXX and their fans. They later
surprised the crowd with special missions given by their mascot, ROVIX.
Thanks to ROVIX, the boys performed special talents which were never
shown before, much to the delight of the fans. What better way to
express their gratitude to their fans than to sing “Starlight”, the song
which inspired them to pick the name for their fanclub, and VIXX did
just that before continuing with “Rock Ur Body”, getting the audience on
their feet and dancing along to the upbeat song.
VIXX stunned the crowd
with a refreshing remix version of their hit song “Hyde” for their
encore, and wrapped up the event with “G.R.8.U”, which was taken from
their latest repackaged mini album Jekyll.
VIXX’s
first stop for their global showcase tour had ended in success, and we
hope that they have created fond memories in Malaysia, and will visit
the country again in the near future. MYKPOP would also like to thank
Jazzy for giving us the opportunity to see VIXX up-close, and we look
forward to their upcoming events.
*We will be posting pictures of the event in our next post!~ Look forward for it :)
